Our Hero and our Friend
As you get ready for your tour
We’d really like to say
That as much as we all want you here
We know that you can’t stay.
We know that you’re a man of honor
And that your word’s your bond
For it is qualities as these
That we have grown so fond.
Your sense of duty, right and truth
Are traits that you hold dear;
Your dedication to your country
In times of strife and fear.
They bring you to a journey
We hoped would never come to call
But in our hearts we knew that you
Would rise and stand so tall.
Please know that in your leaving
You take along our pride.
You take along all of the love
That in our hearts abide.
It is upon your safe return
That our thoughts and prayers will dwell
We’ll welcome home our Hero
Our friend we love so well.
